Great demonstration. However, burning the oxygen is not the cause of the rising water level. As the candle burned inside the glass, air bubbles were pushing out at the bottom as a result of the hot air expanding. When the oxygen was consumed, the candle went out and the air cooled. The cooler air takes up less volume , exerts less pressure. Air pressure outside is greater and the level inside rises.
